Gitiano - KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Million Mile / Gold Circle (p)
Mullins Bay - Poppy Elizabeth by Jet Master
Andrew Harrison - Gitiano (Mullins Bay - Poppy Elizabeth) was just off top of the class last season, a class headed by the unbeaten and internationally tested Vercingetorix and Gr 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Capetown Noir, and Alec Laird’s runner looks to have matured into a serious ‘Champions Season’ candidate.
His task was made that much easier in a Conditions Plate at Turffontein Saturday with the likes of Ilha Bela and War Horse being defectors, but he could not have been more impressive. Anthony Delpech, who was having a red letter day, had the chestnut son of Mullins Bay in the box seat all the way round and Gitiano quickened through up the inside rail to win with a minimum of fuss from Lockheed Jet Star (Jet Master - Lyrical Linda) and a fading Skitt Skizzle (Jet Master - Ice Floe).
